Decorating for Halloween
I love decorating for the changing seasons and holidays, and decorating for Halloween is one of my favorites. Decorating for the holidays changes the spaces in my house without the work of painting and buying new furniture and decor. I thought I would put together a list of decorations to get you started on decorating for Halloween. I have also included a mood board with sources for shopping and a printable to get you started!
I'm also offering a discount for signing up for a soap subscription box. Now through October 31 get $5.00 off your first box! For more details about the subscription box, go here. So if you don't want to read about decorating for Halloween you can check out the sale:)
Must Haves for Halloween Decorating
So here is a list of 8 must-haves for getting you started decorating for Halloween.
Bats! This is where it all started for me, when the kids were little, I bought a few paper bats and hung them up; I still put them up every Halloween. Since the kids were little and I did not want super spooky and scary, these little bats were perfect. At the time, we had an open concept home, so putting the bats up in one room decorated the whole house for Halloween! If you don't want to buy them, I have included a PDF you can download, print out a bunch, cut them out, and tape them up.
Mice Silhouettes. Another not so scary decoration, mice silhouettes for the stairs. The little mice on the stairs are just so fun! You could also put them along the baseboards of any room.
Spiders, every October I pick up some heirloom pumpkins to decorate for the fall season. To make them spooky for Halloween, I add some spiders to them. I add spiders everywhere, on coffee tables on top of books, next to a candle.
Skulls and Skeletons - I picked up a Halloween skeleton a few years ago. The skeleton pretty much hangs out on our porch, for Halloween. I add skulls to the top of stacked books, tucked in next to candles, and pictures around the house.
Faux light up pumpkin - with the days getting shorter and darker, I like to add light wherever I can. During Halloween, I like jack-o-lanterns, but don't like the work of carving them, so a fake one is perfect for me.
Halloween Banner - I bought ours a few years ago at a seasonal Halloween store. It is perfect for our mantel and I liked it because it had little fairy lights. You can add fairy lights to any banner.
Fake pumpkins I love decorating with pumpkins for Halloween and Thanksgiving, real ones can be pricey year after year. Pick up a few neutral pumpkins you can use through Thanksgiving and a couple of spooky ones you can use for Halloween.
Cute candy bowl. What's Halloween without candy and a creepy bowl to keep it?
Decorating for Halloween is fun, and it only takes a few decorations added to any of your spaces to have your home Halloween ready!
