One Room Challenge Fall 2020 - Week 1

ORC

Here we go! I am joining the fun participating as a guest for the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge™. The ORC is a bi-annual interior design event where participants support each other as they transform one room in their house within a six-week deadline. I have wanted to participate for a long time and, on a whim, finally signed up. There are twenty showcase designers/influencers selected by the One Room Challenge™ team that are a great inspiration. As I said, I'm joining as a guest anyone interested can do.

Every Wednesday of the challenge, the twenty featured designers/influencers share their progress. You can find them all here.

Guests of the challenge will share their progress on Thursdays. You can check all the guests here.

For those that are new here, hello and thanks for stopping by! My name is Mindy; I am a soap maker and a blogger/decorator. I started Honey Locust Home five years ago to have a place to talk about decorating my home and sell my soap. I live with my husband, Josh, our two daughters, and Major Dog. We live in a farmhouse built in the early 1900s with many additions. Slowly but surely, we are decorating it one room at a time.

For this challenge, I have decided to tackle our kitchen

giving it a much-needed facelift. The space is currently dark, has carpet, and is dated. I will not be knocking down walls or changing the floor plan for this project. Honestly the layout and floorplan does not bother me. It is functional and works for our family.

Here is what it looks like today.

Here is my design board. I am looking to brighten the space and plan on using a warm neutral color pallet. I will kick off the project this week painting the cabinets.

I am excited about this challenge, and hope you follow along! Thanks for being here!

xo Mindy
