One Room Challenge Fall 2020- Week 2
Well, I made it through week one of the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge! I am happy with what I got done but not gonna lie; I thought I would be further along. Always so optimistic in the beginning!
You know that point where you start a project, get into it, and wonder what have I done? It's hard to see the finish and how you will get there. That's where I am. The majority of time was spent prepping the room. Taking the doors off the cabinets, taking up the carpet, and priming the cabinets all took more time than I thought it would. I used Kilz 3 Premium Interior Exterior Primer to prime the cabinets.
I also decided not to take up the hardwood floors in the kitchen area. I wanted the same flooring throughout. Unfortunately, the hardwood flooring is installed under the cabinets. After watching a video on Youtube on how to remove them, I realized it was too much for me to do by myself. So the hardwood flooring will stay in the kitchen.
Removing the carpet was my favorite part! Getting it out of there made everything feel instantly cleaner. I am also getting super excited about the lighter cabinets. There is one small window in the room over the sink, not letting in much natural light. Lightening the cabinets makes the place so much brighter!
Heading into week two, I plan to finish painting the cabinets and start painting the walls. However, I'm rethinking the plans I have for the walls, which is to stencil. I ordered a stencil from Royal Design Studio Stencils this past summer that I love. Well, the other day, I started browsing the Royal Design Studio Stencil's s website and came across another stencil I love, so I ordered it. Now I have to decide - which one do you prefer to Bird's Eye Ikat or Ripple Effect? Help me decide and leave a comment!
