Scoby DOG Snacks!!!
Since we began making our own Kombucha, we have had a surplus of Scobys. Our Scoby hotel, in a 2 and a half gallon glass jar, got to the point of "NO VACANCY". We decided, what a great opportunity to make some healthy homemade dog snacks for our boys. These types of projects are perfect for these cold winter weekends when outdoor projects are a challenge. After some quick research, on the concept, we came up with the recipe below, and dogs can't get enough...enjoy!
Scoby Dog Snacks
6 - 8 Healthy Scobys
2 Tablespoons Beef Base
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
1 teaspoon salt
Slice Scobys into 1-inch strips.
Mix Beef base, Worcestershire, Liquid Smoke and salt in a small bowl, add to sliced Scobys and stir well. Marinade overnight.
Arrange slices on food dehydrator or baking sheets. Process dehydrator until strips are fully dry and jerky consistency.
Please note: this will create a funky bbq/vinegar smell in your house when you dehydrate. I recommend running the dehydrator in the garage, basement or laundry room (keep in mind the colder the room, the harder your dehydrator will have to work, and the longer the process).
