Soap Talk - Ingredient Spotlight
Olive Oil
This week I am talking about Olive Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil. When I started making soap olive oil was in so many of the recipes I found, so I put it in my soap. I found it was an excellent balance to coconut oil, for the basic reason that coconut oil removes dirt and dead skin cells and olive oil nourishes.
Olive oil is a liquid fat obtained from the Olives. The Olive tree is native to the Mediterranean region, it is also one of the oldest known trees. Olive oil is the perfect natural skincare ingredient and has been used in products for skin for thousands of years. Olive oil is moisturizing, but will not clog pores, making it great for skin prone to breakouts. It has polyphenol and oleic acid making it great for aging skin, will aid in sealing in moisture, and will not harm cells. Olive oil is rich in vitamin E & A, again great for aging skin. It is gentle and can be used on most skin types and is perfect for summer skin. Finally, it is hypoallergenic making it great for all ages.
There you have the reasons I love olive oil for skincare. Thanks for stopping by, if you are interested in trying out some soap, head over to the shop and use the coupon code BLOG and get 10% OFF your order!
