The kitchen is done! I'm going to repeat it because I'm so excited - a little louder - THE KITCHEN IS DONE!! In September, I decided to join the One Room Challenge for Fall 2020 as a guest! I am so happy I did. You can see the process of the past five weeks here |week 1| week 2| week 3| week 4| week 5|

I did this project on the tightest budget and will share the details of what I spent in this post. It's amazing what you can do with some paint and help from your Dad! Before we get to all that, I'll share all the pics.

My Dad! The rock star who made the floors happen!

How to Make a Rattan Ceiling Light

My favorite money-saving project was the light fixture. The light in my mood board is $475, and I made this one for $52.

A while back, I had spotted this basket at JoAnn Fabrics and liked it. It was $100, and I really did not have a spot for it in my home. I remembered it for this project, and it makes the perfect light shade.

JoAnn Basket Shades of Light

Using the old light fixture's pendant cord made it super easy to transform the basket into a light. Josh used a hole bit, matched to the size to fit the light. He drilled a hole in the middle of the basket. We attached the basket to the light using the ring attachment that comes with the ceiling light cord. The one we had was from Ikea; you can find pendant light kits on Amazon. You could do this with any basket. What do you think?

Stenciled Backsplash

For the backsplash, I primed and painted the tile that was already there and then stenciled. I bought the stencil from Royal Desing Studio. The best part about using a stencil for this is when I'm ready to change it, I can paint or tile over it.

Thank you for Following Along!

Thank you for stopping by and checking out the kitchen refresh! I appreciate it so much. Please check all the inspiration from the featured designers that have posted the room reveals for the One Room Challenge Fall 2020. The Guest designers are offering up some awesome inspiration too. Over the next few weeks, I will try and share my favorites.

What's Next?

It is going to be all Christmas here. I'm ready to bring the warm glow of Christmas into the house. You will also find me making all the soap. For the holidays I will be putting together gift boxes and sending out Subscription Box orders. There is a lot of goodness in my shop; I would love for you to go check it out.
