OCTOBER - FIRST FRIDAY!!

Happy October!

I am finally feeling fall!  Thankfully, most days have been beautiful making it easier to welcome shorter days and cooler weather, on its way.  Our chickens are still roaming throughout the day, I love seeing them out there.  Soon the ground will be frozen and we won't see them.

October Soap & Cocktail

This month is all about Pears!  I made a Sweet Pear Soap you can find in the shop.  Come back next week... I am hoping to add Sweet Pear Lotion Sticks and Bath Bombs to go with the soap.

To go with our October Soap I made a Sweet Pear Punch.  This is quite possibly the best fall drink!

Super simple to make and perfect for entertaining.  You can mix it in a pitcher or a punch bowl.

Prep Time: 5 Min

Serving Size 6

Ingredients:

4 Cups Pear Cider

2 Cups Ginger Beer

2 oz Vanilla Vodka

1 Pear Sliced

Cinnamon and Sugar to rim the glass

Ice

To make combine all ingredients over ice in a pitcher or punch bowl and stir.  Pour into glass with cinnamon and sugar on the rim and enjoy.

September was a busy month.

I addition to getting back into the swing of the school year,  I rolled out our soap subscription box!  Thank you to all those that have subscribed!  If you have not had a chance to check it out you can here.

I posted about my favorite garage sale and thrift store finds in our home and giving our front door a little makeover.  Also, I did end up painting that shelf😊

There was time to teach a soap class!  Hopefully, I will be able to add another class before the end of the year. While we did not have any animals on the homestead other than the chickens and quail Josh managed to fill our freezer with venison.

Looking Ahead

I am working on my sourdough starter.  Following the directions in The Nourished Kitchen cookbook by Jennifer McGruther.  For the past week, I have fed it every day, so far so good, and I think I am just about ready to make some bread!!  I will let you know how it goes.  Also, if you are interested in Farm-to-Table cooking I highly recommend The Nourished Kitchen by Jennifer McGruther for traditional cooking.

I also really miss making pillows and hope I will be making and adding them to shop again, soon!

Other than that October is going to be busy making for the holidays!  Make sure you check out my events schedule found on the bottom of my homepage and for the shop to fill up.

Hope your October is full of fun and thanks for stopping by!
